Last week I attended Bible Study via Zoom. This week in person. It was this week that I actually 'heard' what Father was teaching. I am nothing without the Church! Thank you for this article, Jamey!

A deeply insightful and refreshing perspective on how Christians are called to read Sacred Scripture.

The text hits the nail on the head: reading the Bible is never an interpretation-free task. The real choice isn't whether we interpret, but whether we do so privately and subjectively ('just me and my Bible') or within the living tradition and community of the Church.

Three key takeaways stand out:

Christ as the Key: The Old Testament isn't merely a historical preface; it is already illuminated from within by the Son, prefiguring and revealing Christ throughout.

Divine Condescension (Synkatabasis): God mercifully stoops down to enter our limited human language, guarding us against both rigid literalism and loose, subjective allegorizing.

The Goal is Repentance: Studying Scripture isn't meant for intellectual pride or winning arguments. Its ultimate aim is self-examination, humility, and personal transformation.

As the author beautifully summarizes: 'Read the Bible. Just don't read it as an orphan—read it as a son or daughter of the Church.'
